There are certain drinks you start associating with an event before you even get there.
The Honey Deuce at the US Open. A Mint Julep on Derby Day. Or your friends’ signature cocktail that everyone ended up ordering at their wedding.
A good signature cocktail does something a regular bar menu can’t: it becomes part of the memory.
At a wedding, a signature cocktail can be a favorite drink, reference a place the couple loves, or even be named after their dog. It’s a small detail, but it makes the bar feel like it belongs specifically to that wedding.
The Knot recommends signature drinks for exactly this reason: they give couples another way to bring their personalities and shared experiences into the day.
And the same idea works well beyond weddings. Hotels, restaurants and branded events can use a signature drink to give guests something they can only have there.
The Honey Deuce is probably the perfect modern example.
Grey Goose and the US Open introduced the cocktail as part of their partnership in 2007. Today, it’s the tournament’s signature cocktail: vodka, lemonade, raspberry liqueur and three melon balls that look like tiny tennis balls. Every one is served in a commemorative cup.
At this point, you don’t just go to the US Open -\you get a Honey Deuce.
The Mint Julep has an even longer history. It has been a Kentucky Derby tradition for nearly a century, and more than 125,000 are served during Derby weekend each year. Churchill Downs began ordering souvenir julep cups in 1937, turning the glass itself into part of the tradition.
There’s something interesting both events figured out a long time ago: the drink is more memorable when the vessel is memorable, too.
People keep their US Open cups. Derby glasses have become collectibles. The drink may be gone in 20 minutes, but the glass can stick around for years.
That same thinking can make a smaller event feel more considered. If you’ve spent time creating a cocktail people will remember, serving it in a forgettable glass feels like a missed opportunity.
Crystal Imagery creates custom glassware for weddings, hospitality brands, corporate events and celebrations of all sizes. Each design is deeply sandcarved into the glass, creating real depth and texture rather than a design that simply sits on the surface.
From a couple’s wedding crest to a hotel logo or an annual event mark, the glass can become part of the experience, and something guests actually want to take home afterward.
